If you’re anything like us, you agree craft beer is good for your health. But we take it one step further – by partnering with the Grant Park Conservancy, a not-for-profit dedicating to making the gem of Chicago’s parks as beautiful and innovative as possible.
“Festivals in green space are really good for your health,” said Bob O’Neill, president and founder of the Grant Park Conservancy. A former corporate attorney, O’Neill has made it his mission to keep Grant Park, what he so aptly describes as “Chicago’s front yard,” green, healthy, fun, and generating revenue to be used for renovation efforts in parks around the city.
For the uninitiated, Grant Park has it all. We’re not kidding. From Maggie Daley Park to the Petrillo Band Shell, Millennium Park to the Cancer Survivors’ Garden, there’s an Insta-ready backdrop everywhere you turn. If you’re into that sort of thing. This summer, they’ll introduce a roller hockey rink with various workout and exercise programs, including many yoga events, parkour and a workout boot camp program.
The Grant Park Conservancy has some major projects in the works, too, including HealthPark@GrantPark, the world’s first park dedicated to physical health. Designed to be inclusive and welcoming to people of all backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles, the goal of the park is to help people take their first steps on a journey to wellness. They’ll also be adding new sculptures, hosting more festivals, and basically making Central Park look like a chump.
This spirit of innovation is a big factor in why we make such natural pals.
“Craft beer is a really big part of people enjoying Grant Park. We want to be at the forefront of craft beer,” stated O’Neill. With efforts to bring brewers that can’t be enjoyed in Illinois outside of the Fest, plus Grant Park’s easy access for people from all over the city and suburbs, we’re making it super easy and fun to get outside and drink good brews.
With 8-month long Chicago winters, you’ve been waiting for this. Trust us.
